Aparecido “Bill” Faria, known to friend and students as “Professor Bill”, is a 2X Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and 5X Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion. He began training in Brazil at the age of 7 and is currently a 4th degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. and the head instructor at Gracie Barra Rohnert Park in Northern California.
A native of Rio De Janeiro, Bill grew up in a tough neighborhood and first turned to BJJ to protect himself against some of the neighborhood bullies. Though times were hard as a young boy, he was able to use his newfound self-confidence, discipline and respect to move his life in a positive direction. “Many kids in my neighborhood took the wrong path, drugs, crime, violence…and they ended up in jail or dead. I was able to use the lessons from my Jiu-Jitsu to stay on track and dream of a successful life.”
Bill came to the United States in 1996, following his dream to share his knowledge with as many people as possible. His travels took him across the country through Jacksonville, FL and New Orleans, LA on his way to the West Coast where he eventually settled down in Sonoma County, CA. Today Bill splits his time between a number of projects and cities, building the Mobile Black Belt brand and traveling where his attention is needed most.

Professor Bill has used his over 35 years of competing and teaching to select 76 techniques that have proven to be some of the most effective in Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Bill also featured both the Spider and Butterfly guards two of the more versatile techniques. Each technique is filmed from a variety of angles, slow motion, and real time to provide you with the perspective you need to understand the key points and details.

Bill began his training with Grandmaster Monir Salomão a 9th degree Red Belt in Rio De Janeiro and later earned his Black Belt under Professor Wendell Alexander. After competing extensively in the Jiu-Jitsu World competition circuit Bill turned his attention towards teaching and relocated to the United States. While teaching in the United States Professor Bill had the opportunity to train under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. where he was awarded his 4th degree Black Belt.
Bill has built successful Jiu-Jitsu academy’s from the ground up on both the east and west cost dedicating the last 15 years to teaching thousands of students that walked through his doors.
